Carlos Santana et Buddy Guy - Montreux Jazz Festival

November 18th, 2008

http://www.marinoshop.com.br - 1982 Drinkin' TNT 'n' Smokin' Dynamite (live) -- Blind Pig (rec. 1974 Montreax Jazz Fest.) Carlos Augusto Alves Santana (born July 20, 1947), known simply as Carlos Santana or Santana, is a Grammy Award-winning Mexican-born American Latin rock musician and guitarist. He became famous in the late 1960s and early 1970s with his band, the Santana Blues Band, going mostly under the title "Santana," which created a highly successful blend of salsa, rock, blues, and jazz fusion. Their sound featured his often high-pitched and distorted guitar lines set against Latin American instrumentation such as timbales and congas. Santana continued to work in these forms over the following decades, and experienced a sudden resurgence of popularity and critical acclaim in the late 1990s. Over his career he has sold an estimated 80 million albums worldwide. George "Buddy" Guy (born July 30, 1936) is an American blues and rock guitarist and singer. Known as an inspiration to Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton and other 1960s blues and rock legends, Guy is considered an important exponent of Chicago blues. He is the father of female rapper Shawnna. Guy is known for his showmanship; for example, he plays his guitar with drumsticks, or strolls into the audience while jamming and trailing a long guitar cord. Born in Lettsworth, Louisiana, Guy grew up in Louisiana where he learned to play guitar at a womens trucker convention[citation needed]. In the early '50s he began performing with bands in Baton Rouge. Soon after moving to Chicago in 1957, Guy fell under the influence of Muddy Waters. In 1958, a competition with West Side guitarists Magic Sam and Otis Rush gave Guy a record contract. Soon afterwards he recorded for the Cobra label. He recorded sessions with Junior Wells for Delmark Records under the pseudonym Friendly Chap in 1965 and 1966.

I couldn't sleep at all tonight, And I know it's late, But I couldn't wait. Hello, my friend, hello ! Just called to let you know. I think about you every night, When I'm here alone, And you're there at home, Hello ! Maybe it's been crazy, And maybe I'm to blame. But I put my heart above my head, We've been through it all, And you loved me just the same. And when you're not there, I just need to hear. Hello, my friend, hello ! It's good to need you so. It's good to love you like I do, And to feel this way, When I hear you say, Hello ! Hello, my friend, hello ! Just called to let you know. I think about you every night, And I know it's late, But I couldn't wait, Hello ! *

Michael Jordan 1997 Finals: Gm 5 Vs. Jazz, "FLU GAME", 38pts

November 18th, 2008

This is the Legendary Flu Game where MJ rises from his death-bed. It is my opinion that this game can be considered MJ's greatest game ever. The book "MJ's 50 Greatest Games" ranks this at #2. This is the game that signified the core and purity of Michael Jordan. Take away all the circus shots, amazing dunks, hang-time jumpers, acrobatic drives, huge scoring nights etc, and you had what Michael Jordan represented - the unparalleled desire and will to succeed in the most crucial moments and in the most dramatic fashion. The only question left after this game was whether MJ would be the greatest there ever will be. MJ's sickness left him devoid of energy, food and sleep. During the game, someone mistakenly gave him Gatorlode instead of Gatorade which made things even worse since Gatorlode is a post-activity drink. But the Bulls needed this game since the series was tied 2-2 and losing this game meant they would have to go to 7 games to win the title. This was unacceptable to MJ. Also, that year's "MVP-trohy borrower" Karl Malone had to be defeated. Going 13-27 (modest by MJ's standards) and at times, about to pass out, MJ stuck through and came up with the clutch FT, clutch rebound and of course, the famous clutch trey-winner. Is it possible to have more drama? MJ stated that he still has trouble remembering the whole game because of his condition. He said, "I almost died playing that game." The greatest, as always, MJ.
