Vanilla Ice-Ice Ice Baby
November 18th, 2008

"Ice Ice Baby" is rapper Vanilla Ice's most famous and popular song, released from his album To The Extreme. "Ice Ice Baby" was the second rap single ever to hit number one on the Billboard Hot 100, after Blondie's 1981 single "Rapture." The song was nominated for a Grammy for Best Rap Solo Performance in 1991 but lost to MC Hammer's "U Can't Touch This". The single, released by SBK Records, sold 15 million copies. The song was the first Billboard Hot 100 #1 single to not have an American release on a vinyl 45 during its initial chart run. The song also reached #1 in the UK, becoming one of the first rap singles there to do so. It is also labeled as #5 on Blender magazine's list of the "50 Worst Songs Ever" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ice_Ice_Baby

Antarctica Time lapse: A Year on Ice
November 18th, 2008

A better quality copy of this clip can be found at my photo site: www.antarcticimages.com Blog: www.frozensouth.com Time-lapse video filmed in Antarctica, in and around McMurdo Station and Scott Base. Each year the sun is below the horizon for 4 months in the middle of winter, and above the horizon for 4 months in summer. During the couple of months in between we have more-or-less normal days. Includes shots of auroras and the very rare polar stratospheric nacreous clouds, which form when ozone depleting gases crystallize in the upper atmosphere in the intense cold. Summer population is about 1200 people, winter about 200. This is just a small sample of an ongoing project to collect time-lapse imagery of Antarctica. I have taken over 1,000,000 individual photos and worn out a number of cameras that make up the collection of footage I have gathered so far over the last 6 years. Eventually a film will be released, keep an eye on my user page for more info in the future. Check out my other videos as well for more of life on the Ice. For those of you who have been asking about the music I used here, the first piece of music is "Whirl-Y-Reel" by Afro Celt Sound System, the second is "The Grand Finale" from the Edward Scissorhands soundtrack by Danny Elfman. Both are available at most music outlets.

Miracle On Ice, Newly Discovered Original Live Call
November 18th, 2008

Check out this incredible, newly discovered, original play-by-play call of The Miracle On Ice, perhaps the greatest upset in the history of team sports. When the USA shocked Russia, 4-3, at the 1980 Lake Placid Winter Olympics, Curt Chaplin was covering the game as a sports reporter for the ABC Radio Network. Standing on a camera platform in the crowd, he did play-by-play of the entire game into his tape recorder, capturing the event on tape forever. Now, after 25 years, these tapes have been rediscovered and matched to the video. The result is a dramatic, stirring and completely original experience for sports fans all over the world. Now you can relive the #1 sports upset of the 20th Century in a whole new way, through new eyes and a new voice. Still as fresh and exciting as the day it happened. If you know any hockey players or hockey fans, send them the link. They should all see it.
