Daft Punk - Harder, Better, Faster, Stronger (A CAPPELLA!?)

November 18th, 2008

So... the Carleton Singing Knights decided to cover Daft Punk. Pretttty wacky, eh? Yeah. Jonah (second from right) says: "We didn't expect this concert to end up on YouTube, and neither did the audience. Therefore, they're quite loud. Why shouldn't they be? It's the last day of class, they're drunk, and this isn't exactly the Carleton Philharmonic. Rowdiness is expected and, from our point of view, appreciated. If you'd prefer a studio-esque recording with no audience, visit our Myspace, http://myspace.com/thecarletonsingingknights . Thanks for the views!" There ya go. Thanks a bundle for stopping by! XOxo

"Star Wars" - an a cappella tribute to John Williams

November 18th, 2008

JOHN WILLIAMS IS THE MAN! (A Star Wars-themed four-part a cappella song) GET THE MP3 (AND READ THE LYRICS): http://www.moosebutter.com/starwars A BIG thank you and ALL musical credit goes to the a cappella comedy group Moosebutter (from Provo, UT), who greatly assisted me in the making of this video and memorizing their brilliant song "Star Wars" from their 2002 album 'see dee'. This video was done with their blessing and their support. Check out their website here: http://www.moosebutter.com/ FEATURED ON YOUTUBE CANADA (Nov. 3, 2008)! FEATURED ON YOUTUBE WORLDWIDE (Nov. 6, 2008)! Thank you so much to YouTube for featuring this. This makes my life more than you could ever possibly know. Thank you to my friends and my Subscribers (who are also friends!) for supporting my channel and videos, and sticking with me over the past 2 years. YouTube is a wild ride, and I'm happy to be a small part of this amazing community. FEATURED ON STARWARS.COM! http://starwarsblog.starwars.com/index.php/2008/10/29/star-wars-a-cappella-tribute/ FEATURED ON 11ALIVE (NBC NEWS) - ATLANTA, GA: http://www.11alive.com/news/watercooler/story.aspx?storyid=123017&catid=186 COREY VIDAL AND MR. TIM (FROM MOOSEBUTTER) INTERVIEWED ON BLOGTALKRADIO: http://www.blogtalkradio.com/annieburltalk/2008/11/13/youtube-phenomenon-corey-vidal John Williams (born February 8, 1932) is an American composer, conductor and pianist. In a career that spans six decades, Williams has composed many of the most famous film scores in history, including all but one of Steven Spielberg's feature films, Star Wars, Superman, Jaws, E.T., Born on the Fourth of July, Harry Potter, and more. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: "Is that really you singing?" No. Sorry to disappoint you, but all 4 beautiful voices belong to the men from Moosebutter. They are a professional a cappella comedy group from Utah, and were kind enough to assist me in the making of this video. Check them out and hear more hilariously awesome songs at http://www.moosebutter.com "What order did you film the video clips in?" I don't know why so many people ask this, but I've been getting it a lot. I filmed them from highest to lowest, vocally: 1st - TOP-LEFT: Tenor 1 2nd - TOP-RIGHT: Tenor 2 3rd - BOTTOM-LEFT: Baritone 4th - BOTTOM-RIGHT: Bass "Where did you get the 'Player' shirt?" These shirts were given out by Google at a YouTube Gathering in Toronto, Canada on August 8th, 2008. I've been told only 300 were made for the event, however that doesn't mean more won't show up in the future. I have no idea where you could get one. Sorry! "Are you going to make another one of these?" Yes, actually. Moosebutter and I are working on all kinds of projects together now. Subscribe so you don't miss out! François Macré - Thriller (reprise a'cappella 64 pistes)

November 18th, 2008

N'hésitez pas à me laisser vos commentaires ou, pour les labels et auteurs compositeurs, à me contacter par le biais de mon profil MySpace : http://www.myspace.com/francoismacre Titre original «THRILLER» : Paroles et Musique de Rod TEMPERTON © RODSONGS ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here is a remake of the "Thriller" song that I've entirely recorded with my own voice, using 64 A'cappella tracks. There is therefore no instrument, synthetizer, beatbox, or even to sampler, but only the sound of my voice livened up with Reverb and slight Chorus on certain tracks. Regarding looping parts, I've simply used the "looping" technique. Moreover, in the whole piece (which contains several thousand notes), I transposed 8 notes, which were impossible for me to sing in high-pitched. Because of my tessiture, I also must have resigned myself to sing certain parts in head voice, more particularly on the track corresponding to Michael Jackson's solo vocal. I've accomplished this non-commercial project at home, only with a mobile PC, microphone, headphones and webcam - in nearly 350 hours. It's just an artistic challenge, accomplished during my hours of free time, whose purpose is to make smile my close circle and the internauts. Nonetheless, I'll be happy to record in professional studio, original songs with this technique, if a label was nearly interested to work with me on a SP or LP entirely based on this innovative concept of "Massively Multitracks A'cappella". I hope you'll have as much pleasure to hear and watch it as I had to accomplish. Don't hesitate to leave me your comments or, for labels and composers, to contact me through my MySpace profile : http://www.myspace.com/francoismacre «THRILLER» original song : Lyrics and Music by Rod TEMPERTON © RODSONGS

Grizzly Bear - Knife (A CAPPELLA!?)

November 18th, 2008

Grizzly Bear is easily one of my favorite bands ever. The Carleton Singing Knights get some indie cred from this awesomely arranged and led piece by mister Tom Fry (who sings on Sufjan and stuff). For real though, I love this song. This was performed at the Knights's spring concert. More videos are on their way. And to avoid questions, these are kids from Carleton College in Northfield, MN. Neat-o. http://myspace.com/thecarletonsingingknights
